Meet The New You

DAY 16 OF 21

PHASE 4: STICK WITH SOLUTIONS

Wait Expectantly

Waiting. That’s not my strong suit. I’m rather impatient, and it shows, especially in my relationship with the Lord. When I get an idea in my head, I often move on it without first consulting God, never mind thinking through the implications of my decisions. Oh yes, I’m guilty of making an unnecessary purchase without first confirming the refund policy or saying “yes” to commitment that ought to have been a “no.” Fortunately, these little life lessons haven’t had irreparable consequences.

But by the grace of God, He’s allowed me to be spooked enough by my impulsivity that I strive to lay my desires, plans, and not-so-down-to-earth ideas before Him daily.

Meeting with the Lord each day is a valuable investment of my time, as I describe in Meet the New You. It’s my starting point for the day, where I grow from being in the Word while also unloading the cares of the world at the foot of the cross. It’s also a time in which I get to practice the art of waiting as I give my longings to the Lord, whether I scribble them down in my prayer journal or simply sit silently and wait on the Lord to speak. There are times the Lord fills that waiting with promises from the Word—not of what He’ll do in response to my request, but with reminders of who He is. There are times in which I glimpse God’s character of afresh. And there are times I wonder, “What on earth is He up to?” Even so, I continue to wait in anticipation.

Waiting is never wasted time when God is using it to accomplish His purposes.

What is God calling you to learn in this time of waiting?

Trap and Transform

1. How would it look for you to wait expectantly before God?

2. What kinds of requests do you believe the Lord wants you to lay before Him?

3. What steps should you take to making meeting with God daily a priority?

About this Plan

Meet The New You

When we look to the Word of God as our baseline for how to live, we’ll discover where our thinking needs to change to conform to God’s best for us. That’s exactly what this 21-day journey is all about.
