DAY 5 OF 5

For the World

Because of Jesus, we know that the future will be brighter and better than the past and we have been given the power to play a part in making it happen. Our power is from God. Our power is for the world.

Throughout history, God has chosen to work through ordinary people in extraordinary ways. He’s done it before and He will do it again. We just have to let Him.

It’s not enough to be triggered. We need to be activated. If we really want to use the power God has given us to make a difference in the world, then we have to step out of our comfort zone and do something different. It’s not enough to simply be aware. We need to be active. Awareness might make us feel better, but action is what actually makes things better.

Because of Jesus, we have hope and power from God. Hope that the future will be brighter and better than the past and the power to bring that future into the present.

Our hope and power isn’t just for us. It’s for the world.

And our world needs it. A generation willing to work together to build something better. The world we hope for tomorrow is built on the choices we make today.

Historian and theologian NT Wright says this: “What you do in the present—by painting, preaching, singing, sewing, praying, teaching, building hospitals, digging wells, campaigning for justice, writing poems, caring for the needy, loving your neighbor as yourself—will last into God's future. These activities are not simply ways of making the present life a little less beastly, a little more bearable, until the day when we leave it … They are part of what we may call building for God’s kingdom.”

Because Jesus has been hope for us, we are called to be hope for others. The world is awaiting your awakening. Hope is power. And our power is from God.

Reflection Questions:

  • Do you believe you have power?
  • What would change in your life if you started to believe you had power?
  • How can you give hope to someone else today?
Day 4

About this Plan

From God

How much power is in a blue check, a platinum play button, a stadium chanting and wearing your name? If fame is the power that comes from being known by many, what happens when the All-Powerful and All-Knowing wears your name? Here’s the real question: Do we really believe we have power? If so, what happens when we use our power for the good of others? Hope is power.
