DAY 4 OF 7

GUARDING THE DOOR OF OUR HEARTS

But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. (Matthew 15:18-19 NIV)

Success is an achievement as a result of our labour. But to believers, success means to hold firmly onto God’s promises, to not turn away from the Word of God and to guard our hearts and lives.

Praise and worship are not only about the actions that we do in the church, but also about the attitude of our hearts in our daily lives. We are to guard the words of our mouth and our actions to be in accordance with the truth of His Word.

God’s glory will be manifested greater in our lives if we are living a faithful life and continuously paying attention to His commandments. Why do we need to be in the glory of God? Because God has proven how the Israelites were given victory when the glory of God was with them. How about us? Don’t we want our lives to be victorious in all things?

While Jesus Christ was in the world, He was clothed with an earthly body just like us, a body which can feel hungry and go through suffering and temptations. The devil knows this; therefore he tested Jesus in the wilderness. However, Jesus had defeated all the temptations as He chose to be obedient to God’s commandments—the Word of God. Hence, the glory of God fell on Him.

Do not let the devil have an opportunity to steal your heart but let the door of your heart be opened for the spirit of God to fill us. By the power of God, we can overcome.
