THE FAITHFULNESS THAT BEARS FRUITS
Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.” (Ruth 3:18)
Naomi was a successful mother-in-law because she loved her sons and daughters-in-law.
This was proved when Orpah and Ruth were willing to follow Naomi, even though later on, Ruth was the only one who had a strong determination to follow Naomi. Ruth’s faithfulness to Naomi is a picture of our faithfulness to the Holy Spirit who is always there to lovingly guide us. Ruth’s commitment to Naomi reminds us that we also need to commit to following God.
Ruth obeyed everything that was said by Naomi. She was willing to glean heads of grain in the field of Boaz from morning to evening. She had to bend to glean heads of grain after Boaz’s reapers.
One day Ruth met Boaz, and that encounter made Ruth receive Boaz's love. The same thing also happens to us. When we meet the Father, we also receive the Father’s love.
Ruth's faithfulness and obedience to Naomi bore fruit. Ruth, a gleaner of heads of grain, was finally chosen by Boaz to be his wife. When we obey the voice of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God and be faithful in small matters - such as Ruth who faithfully gleaned the heads of grain, God will lift and entrust us with great things.
Boaz is a symbol of redemption and protection. As Boaz redeemed Ruth to become her bride, so Christ redeems us to be His bride and protects us.
God is pleased by those who are obedient and faithful, just as Ruth.
