Reading: Mark, chapter 13
Devotional: We all desire to know with precision how our future will look like. We clearly don’t like the unknown. We would rather know the specifics. It is interesting, though, that Jesus considered it was best for us to only know that the end is inevitable, closer than we think, and ready to happen. So, instead of trying to calculate with precision when Jesus will return, we should figure out how best to guard our own lives.
To guard ourselves means to:
- Be constantly in a prayerful communication with God so that we can discern His will.
- Always pray to be ready to meet Him face to face.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to carry us through any challenges or trials.
- Not let ourselves be fooled by people who are trying to determine the future.
To think about: What else do you think it means to guard yourself?
