Right From The Heart - Plan TwoSample
"SOCIAL NETWORKING"
When Jesus left His disciples with the command to go and make disciples of all nations, the task was not an easy one. They had to walk everywhere they went, taking days and weeks to reach their destinations. They had the ability to write letters, but since they had to be hand-delivered, again, the time and distance made letter-writing a slow process; and word of mouth was pretty much the only way someone heard about the goings-on outside of their general area. Not particularly conducive to having an easy time of spreading the Word. Still, the circular letter and the Roman road system were the latest technology of the day.
Compare that with today's high speed technology, making it possible to send information in the blink of an eye to anywhere on the planet. These fast-delivery services are available on home and office computers, internet cafes, phones, and PDA's, to name a few. Basically, it leaves us with no excuse not to be actively sharing Jesus with people all over the world.
One of the fastest growing internet phenomena in the world today is the rise of 'social networking.' Now, if you know me, it's no surprise to hear that I'm not a technical guru. But even I have heard about networks like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. They're not perfect, but they're great conduits for spreading information, as well as your faith.
God has given us today's technology as a tool. Had the disciples had access to today's technology, they would surely be using email, text messaging, instant messaging, and web sites to talk about Jesus. How about you? Have you considered ways you can use technology to share your faith with your online friends and acquaintances?
So, you might ask, where do I start? Here's an idea. If you have a Facebook account, we'd love for you to join the Right From The Heart Facebook Group and share these daily devotions with your network of friends. Who knows? Maybe your friends will share with their friends, and their friends will share with other friends. Sharing Christ has never been easier than it is today. But don't wait- do it now!
