Choose to Lead
You have arrived to the final day of Students Standing Strong's Bible reading plan, Born to Lead. You have learned the stories of Esther, Joseph, and Gideon, three people who God chose to lead others. However, Esther, Joseph, and Gideon made a choice too; they chose to obey God and step up to leadership. Esther led with her strategic mind, and her boldness, and bravery. She saved the Israelites, her people, from death. Joseph led by faithfully trusting in God's goodness no matter how bad his circumstances appeared. He too was able to save his people from physical death. And finally, Gideon's leadership was defined through his brave, faithful obedience to God. His obedience, even when afraid strengthened Gideon's faith which allowed him to successfully save his people as well. Just like Esther, Joseph, and Gideon, YOU were born to lead people in your life into a relationship with Jesus. Through bravely, faithfully, and obediently sharing your faith with friends and family, you could lead them away from spiritual death and into eternal life with Jesus Christ! Will you choose to lead?
If you remember from day 2, Mordecai was Esther's adopted father. The powerful words he spoke to her are a perfect reminder for every stage of your life, “You were chosen for such a time as this.” You need to live and lead in the way Christ has created you. He wants every situation and circumstance He allows in your life to be used to encourage and influence others. Be brave, faithful, and obedient so you too can make a difference in the lives around you.
God has created you with natural skills and a unique personality. Together these attributes help determine what kind of a leader you will be! Romans 12:4-6 says, "Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well."
Leadership styles vary, but are all equally important! You will truly begin to arise as a leader when you are fully dedicated to the Lord and choose to discover and use your God-given leadership skills. When leaders work together, great things happen!
Have you ever heard the expression, “God never calls the qualified; He qualifies the called!?” What that means is, you don't have to be afraid to be a leader. No matter how young or old you are, followers of Christ have the Holy Spirit empowering them. No matter how much money you have in the bank building or in your piggie bank at home, you are never too rich or never too poor to lead. No matter if you're highly educated or never even had the opportunity to go to school, YOU are qualified to be a leader, and it's not because of who you are or what you have or haven’t done! You are qualified to be a leader because of who you are to God and what God has done for you. God qualifies you as a leader when you become His child through faith in Christ. So, realize and believe that Jesus took the punishment for your sinful choices. Turning the control of your life over to Him, brings forgiveness, hope, and purpose which makes you born to lead!
Think About It:
1. Christian leaders must discover ways to grow in their faith. To be a Student Standing Strong in faith, what steps can you choose to take every day to learn, know, and grow more in your walk with the Lord?
2. What are some strengths in your life that would allow you to effectively lead others to the Lord?
No leader is perfect. But, you should ask yourself these last two questions:
3. Have I earned the right to lead because of the way I live?
4. Do people follow me because I’m a positive influence in their lives?”
