The Lord's Prayer: Kingdom. Power. Glory.

DAY 3 OF 6

GOD'S MISSION

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10

In his book The Lord’s Prayer: A Guide to Praying to Our Father, Wesley Hill notes that “where you see healing and the restoration of what sin and death have disfigured, there you see God’s kingship displayed.” This is a beautiful picture of what it looks like for God’s will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

We also know that the kingdom of God is like a small seed planted that grows into the largest tree, pushing back the darkness and bringing God's blessing to the world. So what seeds of the kingdom are buried in your heart?

Do you have a seed in you to plant a neighbourhood garden in one of the more run-down areas of your community?

Do you have a seed to begin a non-for-profit that will help battered spouses and children?

Do you have a seed to begin a ministry to the LGBTQAI+ communities?

Do you have a seed to co-operate with justice initiatives in your city?

Do you have a seed in you to train and equip church planters?

Do you have a seed to develop curriculum and pathways as an educator to provide high-quality theological education to marginalised people groups?

Do you have a seed to care for the physical needs of abuse victims?

Do you have a seed to enter into the fray and commit your life as a prayer warrior?

Do you have a seed to revitalise an orphanage?

Do you have a seed to missionally engage your city with the truth, beauty, and power of the gospel?

What kind of seed of the kingdom has the Holy Spirit implanted in your heart and how will you water and cultivate it?

Where do you see the decay of sin?

In your heart? May the kingdom come and God’s will be done in your heart.

In your habits? May the kingdom come and God’s will be done in your habits.

In your body? May the kingdom come and God’s will be done in your body.

In your relationships? May the kingdom come and God’s will be done in your relationships.

In your neighbourhood? May the kingdom come and God’s will be done in your neighbourhood.

So wherever you find yourself today spend a few minutes in silence and then ask God to reveal to you where he is already working and ask him to impart to you what your role in displaying the kingdom and embodying his will is in this season.

“You are one in whom Christ dwells and delights. You live in the unshakeable Kingdom of God. The Kingdom is not in trouble and neither are you.” James Bryan Smith
