Being Missional in IsolationSample
LET THE WORD DO THE WORK
In today’s passages, we see that the Word of God always accomplishes its designated purpose. It may not happen as quickly as we want it to (think about how long it is from the winter snows until that fresh loaf of bread comes out of the oven in Isaiah 55), but it always happens in God’s time.
As followers of Jesus, knowing we are supposed to make disciples, sometimes it can feel like we need to know all the answers, but that’s not the truth. We have all that we need for life and godliness in the tools that are already at our disposal: the Holy Spirit (living within all believers), prayer (our direct communication with the God of the universe), and the Word of God (which is living and active, sharper than any sword, dividing things that are seemingly indivisible!).
One of the best habits that you can get into in your life is simply sharing what you read that day in the Bible with someone. You don’t need to interpret it, teach it, or explain it — simply share it with someone else! Whether you copy and paste the Bible passage and text it to a friend, call someone up and read it to them, or summarize it in your own words to the store clerk, make sure that you SHARE, SHARE, and SHARE some more! After all, God’s Word always accomplishes its purpose.
DAILY DISCOVERY QUESTIONS FOR JOURNALING OR DISCUSSION:
- What does this teach me about God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit?
- What does this teach me about myself and other people?
- What does this teach me about making disciples?
- How will I obey this lesson personally?
- Who can I share these truths with today?
About this Plan
In times of isolation, you may be tempted to think that there is nothing that you can do to make disciples, but the Apostle Paul, who wrote about half of the New Testament, did some of his best work from prison! The books of Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon were all written from a place of isolation. Even from isolation you can make disciples.
