Connection with GodSample
DAILY SCRIPTURE
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:7-8)
CONNECTION TO JESUS AND A LIFE OF FRUIT
It’s incredible that God loves to partner with us. Although without question he could simply bring about his purposes without any input from us, time and time again we see that God is a loving Father longing to grow, nurture and mature his people and bring about his plans in partnership with those who love him.
As we grow deeper in our relationship with the Lord, it is amazing how our thoughts, desires, plans and actions begin to align more and more with his heart for us and his world. In our passage today, we see Jesus stating that whatever we ask for will be done, within this context of remaining in him and his words remaining in us. Wow! You can be used powerfully by God as you submit to his loving lordship, bringing his love and perspective to the world around you!
Let us continue to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Let us seek God to continue to grow the fruit of the Spirit in our lives (see Galatians 5:22- 23). Let love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control abound in us, demonstrating to everyone we meet the beauty of our Father.
THOUGHTS FOR PRAYER AND REFLECTION
- Read Galatians 5:22-23. Why do you think each of these fruits are important to God?
- In what ways do you feel God is using you to bless others and show his love?
- What are some areas in your life you see are now more aligned with God than they were before?
