I'm GenerousSample
The Verb Of The Bible
A complete sentence must have both subject and verb that agree. The Bible is not much different. Our God is its subject and His giving is its verb. We also know from 1 John 4:8 that God is love. So, what does He give? Love.
The Bible in a sentence might read, "God gives love.” This sentence reminds us of another, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son …” How did God love? He didn’t just sort of love, He so loved. Because He so loved, He didn’t give just anything—He gave Jesus.
So, how can we respond to God’s extravagant generosity? We can start by taking care of His gift. What? How can we take care of Jesus? In Matthew 25:31-46 NIV, Jesus tells a story about sheep and goats. The sheep get into heaven and the goats don’t. How did the sheep manage? Jesus explains, For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in … Then, someone asked, when did we do this for you Jesus? He answered, … whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Consider: Who is “the least” in your life? How can you generously give to them?
