A Double PortionSample
For Us Who Believe
You and I were not there the day Jesus died. We did not see Jesus on the day when He ascended to heaven. We were not there the day that the Holy Spirit came down in a violent wind from heaven. But we have believed in all these things as true! We believe because of the testimony of many brave believers who were empowered by the Holy Spirit and who told the accounts of Jesus through many generations.
The Good News is that God loves us! It does not matter how big of a sinner we think we are; He loves us. And because of this amazing love, He sent His only Son Jesus to live a perfect life so He could die a horrible death for you and me. Jesus then was raised from the dead and the Bible says that we who believe this wonderful news are counted as righteous before God. The Good News came to us and we believed!
The Bible also says that those who believe in the Son of God are born of God. Now, as sons and daughters, we need to operate like our Father—out of love. Jesus told us that we can accomplish nothing apart from Him. Jesus, like the Father, operates in perfect unity with Him—out of love.
Paul says that when we were “utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time.” Just like Elisha and the disciples, we need to humble ourselves and recognize that without Him in our lives, we are utterly helpless—we can accomplish nothing!
Like our Master, let’s be humble and gentle at heart. Then, and only then, the Holy Spirit will be able to empower us and accomplish “infinitely more than we might ask or think.” He is our double portion.
Let’s humble ourselves before the Lord:
Father, we come to You with a humble spirit. We know that we can accomplish nothing without You. We want to give You the desires from our hearts and receive Yours. May we be vessels who carry Your glory for the honor of Your mighty name. We receive the power of the Holy Spirit who inhabits us to preach Your Word. May we be bold to speak Your Truth everywhere we go and love the way You love us, according to Your will and for the sake of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan
Missions have always been in the heart of the Heavenly Father. He sent His own Son, Jesus, to tell the world about the Good News of God’s love. Jesus prepared His disciples and gave them the Holy Spirit to empower them and be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. Today, as children of God, we are empowered with the Holy Spirit to be bold to love.
