Help, I'm A Parent!

DAY 1 OF 7

Introduction

Ten minutes on social media is enough to be bombarded with various views on any and every topic, including parenting. With competing voices all around, we are often left more confused and flustered than when we began our quest for information. Thankfully, we can turn to God’s unchanging, unfailing Word for a helpful, not harmful, perspective.

Pray

God, please help me see things through the lens of your Word so I may shut out the voices that do not speak truth.

Read

In today’s reading, the psalmist highlights a special gift from God.

Psalm 127:3

Reflect

In the verses that precede our focus Scripture, the writer notes the uselessness of trying to secure our lives without God. He even warns against working around the clock, thinking that’s our true source of survival, when it is God who “provides for those he loves, while they are asleep” (verse 2 GNT). Against this backdrop, the psalmist describes children as “a gift” and “a real blessing” from God (GNT). They, too, are part of God’s provision for us.

Respond

Can you think of ways that your children are a blessing to you? If your circumstances allow, connect with your children today and share your answer with them. If you’re struggling with this exercise, or feel it does not apply to your children, pray and ask God to help you see your children through the lens of God’s Word.

Each of our readers has a unique story of how they interact with the Bible. We invite you to click on the link below, so we can learn more about you and readers like you. Your participation will help the American Bible Society continue to provide high-quality Bible resources for people everywhere and will inform the development of new Bible resources.

Day 2

About this Plan

Help, I'm A Parent!

Parenting can be a rewarding, though challenging, process. Joy and sorrow, satisfaction and disappointment, sickness and health are part of the package. We often wish that our children arrived with a manual that tells us what to do, when, and how. No matter where we are on our parenting journey, we can turn to Scripture for guidance to help us get through the maze that is parenting!
