Book of Ecclesiastes

DAY 1 OF 4

EVERYTHING IS FUTILE

Solomon, the king of Jerusalem who had many treasures, powers, many wives and concubines, as well as other things, wrote in the book of preachers that all was futility. Man is born into the world, lives, then dies. Solomon wrote this book at the end of his life. He realized that, in the end, the world could not satisfy him.

Money, sex, popularity, or position could not satisfy him. Solomon possessed all of them, but all that he possessed took him away from God as he drowned in the pleasures of the world. He learned that without the LORD, everything led to futility.

Some people want to get rich by justifying their ways. Many people want the pleasures of sex and make people their idols and forget that sex is holy from God. A lot of people want to get a position for the sake of their own popularity.

Humans search for satisfaction from the things that Solomon knew were futile.

The things of God are always blessings if we live in God. Why? Because when we live in God, God can be our source of satisfaction. Solomon teaches us that the only source of human satisfaction is God alone. Beyond God, anything that is a blessing can become a curse that leads us to destruction.

Everything will be beautiful in its time. If you want your life to be beautiful then chase God and not His blessings.
