Surrounded
Perhaps as a leader, you feel alone in your job and in your life. This lesson is specifically for you, and one to take deeply to heart. Here it is—You are surrounded by God Himself!
Moses describes what happens next as the Angel of the Lord going before the camp. In fact, he says that the Angel went before them, behind them, and came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of the Israelites. The Angel of the Lord completely surrounded them. The Angel did exactly as God had promised. David tells us in the Psalms that God surrounds His people, and Psalm 23 tells us that even in the valley of the shadow of death, God is with us. God promises to show up, and in our Exodus Experiences, we need to envision God’s presence, because HE IS THERE! Look for Him in the everyday of life.
We need not only to envision His presence, but we also need to engage with His presence. James tells us that when we draw near to God, He draws near to us. What an incredible thought. Do you want to experience God’s presence and engage with Him? Then draw near to Him. The best way to develop an engaging awareness of God’s presence is to speak to Him often in prayer (because prayer matters to God); be in His Word (getting to know Him better); and look for Him—engage with Him every day, because He wants to be with you.
As the cloud led them by day and the fire by night, God protected them and guided them. He became their light to guide them and He became darkness to the Egyptians to hide their breaking of camp. The Children of God experienced His presence and so can you. God is accomplishing so much in us, around us, and through us. We need to be constantly reminded that we are not alone in our Exodus Experiences. We need to envision His presence—because He is there; engage His presence—because He wants to be with us; and experience His presence—because we are surrounded by Him as He promised. You are surrounded by God. Do you believe it? Do you live like it?
About this Plan
Many times, we go through situations similar to the Exodus Experience. God uses these moments to develop patience in us, prayer, dependence on Him, a servant mentality, praise, and blessing. This equips us to overcome challenges, difficulties, struggles, and failures. And at the end of the process, we end up being a much better leader. Join us to discover everything we can learn from God in the Exodus Experience.
