DC28:20—Getting Equipped: The Character Traits of a Follower of JesusSample
DAY ONE
As we start this plan, let’s consider what it means to have the character and priorities of Jesus. What are the most notable things about His character and priorities that were reflected in His earthly ministry?
From the Scriptures, we know that God is to be loved and sought after with one’s whole heart, body, mind, and soul. Read Jeremiah 29:11-14, Deuteronomy 6:4-6, and Deuteronomy 10:12-13—and reflect. What personal applications can you make for practical, daily living?
[Jeremiah 29:11-14 NIV] 11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."
[Deuteronomy 6:4-6 NIV] 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
[Deuteronomy 10:12-13 NIV] 12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?
