Getting a Steward’s PerspectiveSample
Money
How do you know if you love money? One way you can answer that question is if you are making more of it yet enjoying it less. Or if you are using money in ungodly ways. Another way to know you love money is that you are spending more time complaining than giving thanks. Ecclesiastes 5:10 states, “He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.” It’s not money that produces the snare that leads to destruction. It’s the love of money that produces it. Without contentment, the love of money will lead a person down the path to ruin and all sorts of evil. This is because once a person loves money, Satan has their number. He has duped them.
If your financial life is going up but your spiritual life is going down, then you have become ensnared by the love and pursuit of money. A misplaced value in the love of money is revealed when a person prays more for cash than for a better character, or when a person treats people with money better than those without it, or when a person robs God to spend on themselves. It is a kingdom steward’s perspective that merits great gain. When godliness and contentment join forces in your soul, you will reap the benefits of their fruit.

About this Plan
When it comes to this subject of kingdom stewardship, many of us miss the point. But Tony Evans reminds us that it starts with understanding ownership. God doesn’t take us to court for theft when we act as owners over what He’s given us to manage. But we do lose out on the multiplicity of rewards, blessings and continued favor that come from living wisely as a kingdom steward.
