Think of a driver’s manual or maybe a “How-to” video on YouTube. The best guidebooks or videos are about helping people figure things out and do them well. That’s their purpose. The best guides are ones that when followed, can lead to some pretty awesome things.

People often think of Jesus as leaving behind a religion based on boring dos or don’ts. But if you really think about it, while a driver’s manual might not be the most exciting thing to read, practicing driving and following those instructions can lead to fun road trips or while a “how-to” guide might be hard to get through, the end result is something done well. The same way it is for when we learn from Jesus, He said that He wants for us to have life and to have it to the full, but He doesn’t stop there, He helps us to do it. The next time you struggle with seeing your faith as simply a set of rules to follow or boring guidelines, look back to this verse and remember God wants you to live a full life.
