You’re at home, doing your thing, and a crazy storm passes by. Then suddenly... complete darkness. All the power goes out.
What would you do in this situation? Probably search for the closest flashlight or candle. Why? Because without light, you can't see anything.
Now, if someone found the flashlight and hid it under a basket or a blanket, you would think they were crazy! It does no good when it’s hidden, because you still can’t see.
Jesus says our lives should be the same as that light in the darkness.
As followers of Jesus, our lives should help others see what Jesus is like. Our love, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, how we talk to, and treat others, can help others experience Jesus.
When others look at your life, what do they see? Does your life show others what Jesus is like? Or does your life look just like everyone else's around you? Have you hidden your light from others?

Jesus often taught using stories. These stories are better known as parables. Jesus’ parables can sometimes be quite confusing. In fact, Jesus once said that not everyone who heard them would understand them. And yet, these parables contain so much meaning and truth.
