Empowered to Fight 

When you understand the identity God has given to you and are finally ready to march into your destiny with His presence and power, the Lord then makes an astounding announcement: you are called to fight! You are no longer a reservist, but you have been drafted into active military duty in the army of God.

At the close of the stirring and life-altering conversation that Jeremiah had with his Creator, the Lord said, in effect, “Oh, by the way, Jerry, just as I assigned to you a specific identity and a unique calling, I have assigned to you personal battles. But don’t worry, Jerry, my boy—you are going to win every battle that you fight in My strength! Attaboy, Jerry! And, I promise to stay with you and deliver you from every strategy of the enemy. It’s all good, Jerry; it’s all good!”

Our destiny is certainly filled with amazing purpose, answered prayers, and dreams that come true, but it is also splattered with the fiery darts of the enemy. You have been empowered to batter the gates of hell—and they will come down! You have been assigned, in the plans and purposes of God for your life, to defy the enemy and to obliterate the evil plans that he has intended.

It’s true! While we all have personal callings and incredible destinies when we partner with the Lord, I also believe that He assigns battles to us. In the decades of my life, I have been assigned several battles that have threatened to distract me, confuse me, and derail me, but instead I have used them as a springboard for greater ministry.

Knowing that you have been assigned to tear down demonic strongholds and conquer oppression is what makes the hard stuff in life both worthwhile and meaningful. The battles that you face are nothing to shrink back from, nor are they a reason for dread. Battles should bring out the very best in you! Battles should cultivate the power of God in your life. Perhaps your battles were meant to be your finest hour! It could be that when you find yourself in the middle of a devastating situation, as Esther in the Bible did, the Holy Spirit will whisper in your ear, “You have been born for such a moment as this!”
