"Hiding from God"
As the Adam and Eve story unfolds in Scripture, the damaged relationship between Adam and Eve and God is told by what they no longer have.
We know of that lovely summer day, when it was a little bit too hot, but it is evening now and you look forward to that sweet walk through the park with a refreshing light breeze in the company of a loved one. That is the image put before us of what Adam and Eve lost in the fall. It was sweet, apparently the Lord’s presence had casualness to it, and it was regular occurrence.
It is very easy to think of our sin making God angry and driving Him away from us. But who hid from whom in the garden? God showed up and Adam and Even were cowering in the corner.
There are days when I think God did not show up. I might think He is mad at me or at least indifferent to me. I want that sweet walk through a garden with the One I love but find that not happening. But in reality, I am hiding from God, not Him hiding from me.
Reflections:
1. When the presence of God seems allusive – who didn’t show up? God or me?
2. Are there days when the presence of God feels like a cool walk in the evening with a loved one?

About this Plan
Jesus taught us that to follow him, we must often live opposite to our culture; he turned the rules upside down. This 12 day devotional dives into what it means to live Upside Down in a kingdom that isn't definied by race, status, circumstance, gender, or geography, but by a love of Christ. Can we really live a life surrendered to the prayer "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"?
