5 Prayers For Christian WritersSample
Overcoming Self-Doubt and Unworthiness as a Christian Writer
Who am I to write a book? What do I have to share that people actually want to hear? What can I write in a book that people will actually read?
If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions, you’re not alone. Christian writers all over the world deal with the obstacles of self-doubt and unworthiness. We wonder if sharing our story will really matter in the end.
Psalm 94:16 (NLT) says, “Who will protect me from the wicked? Who will stand up for me against evildoers?”
In our case as Christian writers, we’re going to replace ‘wicked’ and ‘evildoers’ with self-doubt and unworthiness. These are the enemy obstacles we want to overcome today with the help of the Lord (94:17).
Our Prayer…
“Father, we come to you right now and we ask that you would vanquish these self-doubts and feelings of unworthiness. We ask that you would speak into each situation and we ask that you would be our hope, you would be our comfort. Renew our hope and our cheer as the Psalmist says.
And Father, we ask that you would flood light into our hearts as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4. Even though we're fragile, Father, we ask you to be our strength. We ask you to remove all self-doubt, all unworthiness, any of these things the enemy has thrown at us or we’ve allowed him to drag us through the mud with.
Father, we ask that you would remove those things in Jesus' name and we ask that you would replace all of the self-doubt and unworthiness with a sense of hope and worthiness in Christ. I have been called upward, higher than I could lift myself. I've been lifted up by God Almighty to proclaim this message. Any message God has put on my heart.
And we pray for each one of these writers, Father, that their messages would get out to as many people as possible. Any obstacle of unworthiness or self-doubt, we command you to leave in Jesus’ name.
Father, we thank you that you are bigger than our doubts. You are bigger than the ungodly beliefs and the lies the enemy uses to hold us back. The picture that you gave me is that each one of us is like a garden hose and if we're not connected to the water spicket, nothing is going to happen. But when we're connected to this spicket it’s like being connected with you, Father God. And then the Holy Spirit is like the water that flows through us and the books we write in order to water, refresh and help many people.
It's not about us. We are simply the vessel. We are simply the jar of clay. The treasure is you Father. The power comes from you. It's not about us and our worthiness. It is all about you and who you are as we allow your Holy Spirit to flow through us. We give you permission, Holy Spirit, to flow through us fully. We turn on that spicket full blast in Jesus’ name and allow you to flow through us to bless many people through our books. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.”
