Read To Me Daily Semester 4

DAY 65 OF 116

DANIEL 2:
In the first chapter of Daniel, we heard how Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were faithful to God in not wanting to be defiled by the king’s food. And later they were found better than their companions and chosen for service to King Nebuchadnezzar.

ISAIAH 23:
Yesterday we heard two dramatic messages in Isaiah. One was about the failure of Jerusalem to appropriately respond to God’s impending judgment (which was remarkably like Nero fiddling while Rome burned). Then there was the message to Shebna, the palace administrator. Eliakim would take his place and be like a nail firmly driven in a wall, and the holder of the key to David’s house. He can be understood as a figure of Christ.

2CORINTHIANS 3:12—4:
We’ll start our reading in 2nd Corinthians today by reviewing the greater glory of the new covenant Paul spoke of at the end of chapter 3.

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, transform us into your likeness in an ever greater degree of glory. We turn to You, and we will fix our eyes on You as Hebrews 12 says:
“Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our believing depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God’s throne.”
Dear Lord, we thank You that the veil of the old covenant is removed. Your new covenant is written on human hearts instead of stone. Let that happen to us! We now enjoy the freedom given by Your Spirit. We realize Lord that we are only mirrors that reflect your glory. So we desire to keep our eyes on You alone. When we turn our focus upon ourselves, the light goes out. Let us not look at ourselves to see if any glory is present. Instead, as we with wonder and awe gaze on You, let us be unaware that our faces are radiant.
