Winter - Written by Meg Cooke
Day 7 - A Time for War and a Time for Peace (v8)
So often we pray for peace, but what if your winter season is actually a time for war?
Battles, war, victory, and defeat are all regularly spoken about in the Bible, because we are daily in a battle for God’s goodness to prevail in the world.
As we round off the winter devotional, it’s important to remember that all of the previous days’ lessons for the winter season are to help us in the war. What is the purpose of the war? To see God’s goodness and know that it will come to pass on Earth both for your life and the lives of others.
Where there is a wrestle to see God’s goodness in your life, it is because it is God’s appointed time for war. We need not fear, for God is with us, but we must be battle ready.
Read Ephesians 6:10-18 today. It lists the weapons necessary for war:
- The Belt of Truth (God’s word)
- The Breastplate of Righteousness (Godly living)
- Feet Fitted with the Readiness that Comes from the Gospel of Peace (God’s presence)
- The Shield of Faith (faith in God)
- The Helmet of Salvation (salvation)
- Prayer in the Spirit on all Occasions (for yourself and others)
Stay the path, leave your old self behind, be real with God, take time to rest, hate evil and love good, and enter the battle with the weapons God gives you.
God has appointed the winter season in your life, but spring is coming.
