Just Jesus: 5 Stories To Know Him BetterSample
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the first four books of the New Testament, tell the story of Jesus' life on earth. Spend even just a little time reading through them and you'll discover that Jesus did all kinds of miraculous things.
One time while he was in a boat with his friends during a crazy dangerous storm, Jesus fell asleep. When his friends woke him up, Jesus rebuked the wind and waves, yelling at them to STOP RIGHT NOW! Imagine a teacher giving you “the look” and sternly telling you to stop talking in class. That’s how Jesus spoke to the storm that day. But way stronger.
Instantly, the storm disappeared. Totally gone. Just because Jesus told it to.
Human beings can do a lot of amazing things. We invent stuff. We build things. We create and think and plan. But we can’t change the weather. We can’t speak a few words and make a storm disappear before our eyes because that’s impossible.
Unless you are Jesus.
The very first lines of the Bible say that God created all that exists. Then much later in the Bible, we find out that, “[Jesus] was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made.” Jesus could tell the storm what to do that day because he created wind and water and waves in the first place. That’s one of the reasons Jesus performed miracles – to show everyone that he is God himself.
After Jesus calmed the storm, his friends asked each other just one question, “Who is this guy that even the weather obeys him??” They were starting to understand that Jesus was more than just a great teacher or good friend, that he was somehow real and alive in the very beginning and was part of creating all things. That includes you and me and all people. We are designed and made by God through Jesus. We are his precious and prized creation. Don’t ever forget it.
