Read To Me Daily Semester 2Sample
DEUTERONOMY 28:
Yesterday in the book of Deuteronomy, we read of the ceremony that Moses commanded the people to perform when they entered the promised land. The Levites were to loudly proclaim curses from Mount Ebal over anyone who violates the laws. The rest of the people responded back shouting, “Amen!”
PSALM 64:
Today we read The 64th Psalm. If you feel that people are looking for opportunities to slander you, this psalm is for you.
ACTS 16b:
Yesterday in chapter 16 of Acts— via the change of pronouns, we understand that Luke joined with Paul as one of his traveling companions. Also note that the Holy Spirit can also be called the Spirit of Jesus. These are one and the same Spirit of God.
Let’s pray before opening God’s Word.
Heavenly Father, as David prayed in Psalm 63, we long for You. If my listener is feeling spiritually thirsty, spiritually dry, spiritually worn out, I pray that you would minister to my friend with living water, with streams of living water bubbling up from inside his or her heart. We call out to you just as David did. We will praise you even in hard spiritual times because your constant love is better than life itself. You will be our strength. You will be our banner and our fortress. Thank You for the wonderful pictures in the story of Acts. Paul and Silas being beaten, singing to you, rejoicing that they were able to suffer disgrace for the name of Christ Jesus. Then, Lord, You shook the foundations and released the bonds of all the prisoners. Even the jailer was previously in spiritual bondage, and he became free. Lord, for both me and my listener, we pray that we would also experience chains falling off as we listen to your Word and fully believe in You. We ask for light, the Holy Spirit’s light, to flood into our hearts as we read today.
