Read To Me Daily Semester 2Sample
DEUTERONOMY 15-16:
Yesterday's reading in Deuteronomy included Moses' warning about being led astray by anyone, including false prophets or even close family members. No one who proposed idolatry was to be allowed to live. Then we heard a repetition of the laws about which animals were to be treated as clean (and edible) and those unclean (and considered detestable).
Psalm 57:
Today we will enjoy another beautiful and often-quoted psalm from David’s experiences, Psalm 57.
ACTS 12:
In Acts 11 we heard how Peter needed to defend what he did in sharing the Gospel with Gentiles. The result was that the church leaders joyfully accepted that God was giving salvation to more than just the Jews. Then we heard how Barnabas visited the predominantly Gentile believers in Antioch and then called Saul to join him.
Let’s pray before opening God’s Word.
Our loving and heavenly Father, how we praise You for your Word. Yes, like David we say, How we praise You for your promises! The believers had every reason to sternly question Peter about what had happened. After all, Moses had told the people of Israel to put to death anyone who brought some new religion, and the Jews were not to associate with non-Jews. But this was NOT a new religion. This was the fulfillment of what you promised through Moses and the other prophets. Jesus was the prophet Moses promised. And Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would lead those who believed in Him into all truth. So those Jewish believers in Jerusalem praised You that the Gentiles were “given the opportunity to repent and live.” So we praise you today for the fulfillment of your amazing promises, including the promise to Abraham that through his offspring, all people on earth would be blessed. Thank You, Lord, that now this includes even me and my listener. We will gladly take the name of Christian, and today, may we live to bring glory to Christ.Something went wrong trying to retrieve data from the server.
