I Am Free
Instagram likes, YouTube views, praise from peers — all these things can become avenues through which we build our self-worth. But if you flip that coin, those same things can also become avenues through which we can get torn down, broken and depressed.
You see, it’s easy to search for an external win to satisfy the internal longing. But becoming dependent on the performance of yourself and the praise of others doesn’t lead to a life of freedom. Only a relationship with Jesus can produce that kind of purpose and identity.
So, I want to encourage you to go to God today and receive what you need from Him. He’ll draw close to you as you draw close to Him (see James 4:8).
Christ has set us free to live a free life. So, take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you(Galatians 5:1, MSG).
Questions:
- Can you identify with an “internal longing?”
- What “external wins” have you been chasing to try and fulfill the internal longing?
- In what areas of your life can you receive Jesus’ freedom for you?
