The Cycle Is Broken. 

“Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and You would keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his request.” 1 Chronicles 4:10 AMPC

The Bible stops to highlight the life of Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4:9 in order to demonstrate how the prayer of one man or woman can shift the trajectory of a generation. Your prayer can change things and shift the course of your family. 

With God all things are possible.

Notice in 1 Chronicles 4:8, that the Bible calls Jabez honorable. Even though Jabez meant “sorrow”, he did not allow the sorrow or painful experience of another keep him bound. Notice that the Bible states that Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. The Bible records Jabez as having a reputation of being honorable even though his name meant sorrow. It is your choice! 

You can choose to allow the paradigms and the opinions of others to shape your path and box in your destiny, or you can choose to break out of old paradigms and cling to God’s plan for your life. Choose to live beyond the expectations others and live for Christ. God wants you to worship Him and not bow to the opinions of others.

Surrender to God. The cycle breaks when you surrender to God. Jabez wanted more for his life and for his family. He asked God to enlarge his territory and increase his responsibility. Jabez chose not to go to the rulers of the land for his promotion—he chose to bypass natural laws and surrender to God—The Ultimate Authority. 

Maybe you’re asking the wrong person. Ask God for the promotion. Ask God for the expansion. Ask God to enlarge you. God uses the unlikely candidate to break generational cycles. You are the cycle breaker. 

Surrender to God and break generational cycles with Him. “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” Proverbs 16:3 AMPC

Prayer:

Father God, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for breaking every generational cycle. Your Power destroys every bondage. Your Power destroys every yoke. Your Word guides me. Your Word leads me. Your Word enlarges me. Your Peace lifts me out of all my fears and troubles. Father, I surrender to You. Lord, enlarge my territory. Bless the work of my hands. Lord, I know that You are with me. Lord, I know that You are for me. Father, I know that You will never leave me. Through You every cycle is broken. Father, I am Yours forever. Father, I repent and surrender to You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
