Your Spiritual Life: Devotions From Time Of GraceSample
What’s the answer? What’s the question?
Every advertiser and marketing executive and salesperson in the world is focused on one overriding question: What do people want? They spend their energy and time and money trying to figure you out so that they can position their product or service under your nose and trigger a buy impulse. If they’re any good, they will sell you not only a thing but an experience, a feeling, a promise that they say will satisfy you.
How many different toys and experiences have you chased in your life? Have you lived long enough to have discovered the truth in Isaiah’s words: “Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. . . . I will make an everlasting covenant with you” (Isaiah 55:2,3).
You were designed to relate to your Designer, invented to enjoy your Inventor. Unless you are being fed with his Word, your spirit will be restless and unfulfilled. Unless you are hearing from him and he from you, the things you chase will only leave you empty and depressed, perhaps because you couldn’t get them or perhaps because you could.
When your covenant-relationship with the Father, Savior, and Counselor is your most important treasure, the joy comes back.
