NEVER LET ME DOWN
"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you…"
2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV)
There is so much value and importance to a promise. Making a promise to someone is making a bond with that person. It's saying that no matter what, you are going to keep your word.
I've had my fair share of broken promises, whether I broke a promise I made, or someone else made a promise to me and didn't follow through. And it's at those times that I've felt the most let down and disappointed. Bonds and relationships only become strong when promises are kept.
In the song “Never Let Me Down”, we sing "Hallelujah, You will never let me down." Sometimes this is easier to sing than to believe because I've definitely felt like there have been times where God didn't show up when I needed Him. Then I remember His promises.
In Isaiah 41:10 He says, "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."
The times I feel let down by Him are the times that I confuse Him not meeting my immediate needs and wants as Him not caring for me or loving me. But the truth is, when God doesn't give me what I pray and ask for, it's because He has something far greater in store for me than I could ever imagine. And when He seems slow in keeping His promises, I remember that "everything is made "Beautiful in His time" (Eccl. 3:11). When I look back at my life, I can truly say He has never let me down, and I know I can trust that He never will.

ACTION
Search the scriptures for the promises of God and find a few that you want to commit to memory. An example of this is Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
PRAYER
God, thank You for being so faithful, so constant, and so good to me. I trust You with all of my heart and all of my life. I give it all to You. Amen.
