21 Prayers Every Christain Should PraySample
DAY FOUR – “FILL ME”
Today’s Bible Reading: John 16:1-15
Jesus, knowing that His time on earth was soon drawing to an end, was concerned for His disciples. These people were more than followers to Jesus; they were His friends. He loved them deeply. His death and departure would be devastating, but Jesus wanted them to know that they would never really be without Him. Through His Spirit, he would continue to be with them and in them. Through His Holy Spirit, He would continue to teach them, lead them, strengthen them, and encourage them. They would never be left on their own; limited to their own understanding, wisdom, and courage.
This promise of the Holy Spirit is not just for those disciples; the Holy Spirit is available to every follower of Jesus. The Holy Spirit has been sent by God to help us understand things we can’t understand on our own and overcome things we could never overcome on our own and accomplish things we could never accomplish on our own. In John 14:12, Jesus even went as far as to tell His disciples that we would do even greater things than He had done. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Wow!
