What Is Generosity?Sample
Jesus showed us generosity when He gave us His life.
We’ve talked a lot about generosity the past few days. We’ve learned it’s not just about money, we can give even when we don’t have much, why giving matters, and how we need to give up some stuff in order to experience true generosity. But have you ever wondered where generosity comes from?
Think about holidays like Christmas. Why do we give gifts? We give because God gave first. Let’s learn a little more with a very Quizmas Christmas lesson.
Pretty crazy stuff, right? But like Quizman said—we all got a baby for Christmas. It sounds kinda weird, but that baby is actually why generosity matters so much. Because it wasn’t just any baby. It was Jesus—and He was the gift who changed our world forever! In fact, John 3:16 says that God gave His one and only Son, Jesus, so that we could have eternal life. Now that’s a pretty great gift!
We definitely didn’t deserve such an awesome gift. Because all of us have sinned—meaning that we’ve messed up and made wrong choices that hurt God’s heart. But He wanted to fix that because He loves us so much. So, he gave us Jesus. And because of that gift—because of God’s generosity—we get to have a relationship with Him.
We know God is the most generous—ever! And when we give, our hearts start matching His heart a little more, like we talked about yesterday. So, giving matters because it’s one way we get to give back to God—who has already given us so much.
God gave us His Son, and He keeps on giving to us. Every good thing we have is a gift from God that we get to share with others by living generously. We know how to give gifts because God gives us so much. And Jesus showed us generosity when He gave us His life. So, let’s live generously—but not to brag about how awesome we are. Instead, let’s be generous so that more people can see how generous our God is!
