Sacred Holidays: A Devotional Leading Up To ThanksgivingSample
DAY THREE:
Today we will thank God for the places we love. For each of us, this will have a different direction, but we will start off together.
Read Isaiah 40:26, and look up. Then thank God for what you see around you. Step outside or look out your window and take it in. Thank God for what He has created. The colors of thy sky, the trees and flowers, the buildings and other structures, or whatever else your eyes can see. Soak in it.
Now let’s shift to other places beyond your window.
Read Psalm 9:1-2.
Let’s spend the rest of our time today thanking God with our “whole heart” and “recount all [His] wonderful deeds.” Our content reading is light today because I want you to spend some time focusing on all the places you can thank God for. I’ll provide some prompts for you, but let the Spirit lead you beyond these prompts.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have lived.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have worshipped.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have traveled.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I hope to travel, but have seen in pictures.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have learned.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have worked.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have eaten.
“I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart” for the places I have… (now it’s your turn).
Today’s song recommendation is: Oceans by Hillsong United.
