Bible Prophecy 101

DAY 4 OF 5

How Does Bible Prophecy Show the Bible is from God?

If we take the time to look at its prophecies, your confidence in the Bible will grow until you come to trust it implicitly. Its statistical track record will win you over as your confidence grows deeper with each passing fulfillment.

The Bible is not a book of fairy tales foisted upon us by a group of con artists. It is an intricately woven love letter given to a lost world. In an attempt to win our hearts and give our free will a chance to accept the truth, this love letter was crafted with a built-in proof of authenticity—fulfilled prophecy.

Prophecy experts cite that 28% of the Bible is prophecy, and 80% of those prophecies have already been fulfilled.

Hundreds of specific predictions that are thousands of years old have been fulfilled to the exact detail. It would be somewhat impressive if only a few of them came to pass accurately, but the incredible fact is that Bible prophecy has a 100% fulfillment rate. The remaining 20% of yet unfulfilled prophecies are all future ones relating to end-time events.

Bible prophecy was one of the most compelling evidences that caused me to consider the claims of Christianity prior to my becoming a Christian. Fulfilled prophecy and my growing awareness of the intricate cohesion of Scripture made me reevaluate my position that the Bible was just a prescientific-age book of religious fairy tales. The more I studied its pages, the more I found an internal cracking of my doubts and a shift in my convictions. There were just too many small details that were subtly pointing to a sovereign Author.

I believe God uses prophecy to open people’s eyes to the fact that only a divine being who is master over time could have inspired these prophecies. Fulfilled prophecy demonstrates that the Bible is of divine origin and can, therefore, be trusted in matters of faith such as salvation and eternity.

If you have not yet seriously considered the claims of the Bible, I challenge you (in a friendly way, not in a duel-to-the-death kind of way) to check out some of these prophecies for yourself and see if there is any other explanation except that they are inspired by God.
