OBSERVE THE SABBATH AND REST

PRAY: Lord, thank You that You have given us a day of rest. The Sabbath is a sacred day and I need Your help to observe it with rest. Help me to not work on Sunday, but to slow down and enjoy the day with You and my family or friends. I know that's good for me but in our busy culture I need Your Holy Spirit to give me the discipline to do it. And I pray this in Your name. Amen

REFLECT: God is so clear about wanting us to stop on the Sabbath and keep that day as different and set aside for Him. It doesn't matter if it's on Saturday or Sunday, or even a day during the week if we have to work on weekends. But He is so strong in telling us to not do an any work, no matter where we live or what we do that He must know what's best for us. Why would we not obey Him in order to do something peaceful, calm and restful? This is a question we must ask ourselves.

ACT: Do you keep the Sabbath? If not, why not commit right now to start this week? Choose this one issue as a way to develop your spiritual discipline and take advantage of a gift that God is commanding you to follow - the gift of rest!
