7 Days to a Sweeter YearSample
3. Read a Psalm Every Day
The psalmists cried out to God from the depths of their hearts. Their words contain the raw emotions of disappointment, fear, anger and desperate need. These are circumstances we can all relate to. There is comfort in knowing that others have endured similar feelings as ours and have found solace in God’s presence.
As we read the Psalms, we see that at crying out to God, the focus shifts from the writer’s problems to God Himself. We discover that God is available to us in the same way He was to David and the other psalmists. He is our shelter and our shield, our refuge and fortress, our deliverer and healer. Through the Psalms, we learn to turn our attention to our caring, almighty Father and rest our troubles in His hands.
