The Stories We Tell: 28 Days Of Truth-Telling For The Soul

DAY 14 OF 28

DAY 14 | LIFE AS A LETTER TO THE WORLD

žcentering thought

“We are the letters God sends to the world, letters that disclose that there is a God, and that he deeply cares …”

encouragement from God’s word

Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 3:2-3

devotional direction

If the statistics are right, then today, you will make upward of seventy decisions. Some will be inconsequential—what you wear, what you eat, which route you take to work. Some will be consequential—whether you choose to manifest peace and patience and kindness and goodness with those you encounter. But all of these choices will matter. They will matter because to some extent, you and I are the sum of the choices we make. Each choice tells the world around us what matters to us, who or what we worship, and to whom we believe we belong. Written on our daily decisions, attitudes, actions, reactions, assumptions, presumptions, and words is a missive to anyone watching … a “letter” with something to say. The question we have to grapple with is, How will the letter of our life read?

Will our life serve as a note of encouragement to a world so desperately in need? Or will it be the bearer of bad news, providing nothing more than insult to injury?

The Spirit of the living God longs to pen poetry on your heart today, stunning stanzas of reassurance for you to carry to those you meet. Will you quiet yourself long enough for his message to get written to you? Then, will you faithfully broadcast those words?

question to ponder

If your life is in fact a letter, then what message will it deliver today?

About this Plan

The Stories We Tell: 28 Days Of Truth-Telling For The Soul

Based on the "The Stories We Tell: Real Women. Real Lives. Real Love" Church Edition.  This twenty-eight-day devotional experience has been created for you to, in effect, think more carefully about what you’re thinking—about who you are and why you’re here and the role God longs for you to play in impacting the world around you for good. Consider carving out ten or fifteen minutes each day for twenty-eight days, during your first waking hours, perhaps, or just before you close your day and head to bed.
