Overcoming StressSample
Stress and anxiety are not the same thing.
We often throw the words “stress” and “anxiety” around like they’re interchangeable. But that’s not the case. See, stress and anxiety are cousins but certainly not twins. So, what’s the big difference? There are a few. Check out today’s video.
This is important: Stress is a response to a threatening situation. Anxiety is an internal reaction to that stress. Anxiety should be diagnosed by a doctor. But if you think you may be struggling with anxiety, the best thing you can do is seek help from a trusted adult. It doesn’t make you weak; it makes you wise.
We know that God makes all things new, and part of how He does that is by giving us medical professionals and medicine that can help us deal with our anxiety on a daily basis.
But whether you’re dealing with overwhelming stress or if you suspect you’re struggling with anxiety, the good news is that there is hope in Jesus. There is peace in Jesus. And there is unlimited access to Jesus and His peace.
The Bible tells us that God will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are focused on Him. How powerful is that?! God’s peace is found in God’s presence. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, He offers us a peace that goes far beyond anything we can understand.
And this peace is a daily invitation. Every single day, God offers us an opportunity to find His peace through prayer, reading His Word, and listening to Him. So, no, stress and anxiety aren’t the same thing. But the same God can offer healing and hope for both.
Challenge: Spend some time being still in God’s presence today. Think about who He is, and focus your thoughts on Him.
