Faith Forward Future By Chad VeachSample
Most of us chase after the previews of life. We want to know everything that’s going to happen to us. We chase the five-year plans or the “How to be successful” seminars, because they lay out the dream for us in very simple and tangible steps. They give us an exact image of the money and fame that we’ll achieve.
I hate to break it to you, but life isn’t always that simple and easy. God’s plan may not be as tangible as the one you tried and failed at achieving.
How do we walk through this today without knowing how it will all play out? How do we walk out God’s plan if we don’t know the entire story? Most of us want God to give us the preview version. We want to know the ending—who dies, who lives, how things go down. But living out God’s dream starts with trusting.
“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you” (Psalm 9:10). If we know the character of God, we can trust that he will finish what he’s started. . . .
If you closely examine your life, you might be surprised to discover that many of your decisions are based on this little thing called trust. Trust is a big deal, and if you want to live out the great plan that God has for your life and move past the destruction that came with your broken dream, it’s a necessary step.
Proverbs 3:5–6 talks about the importance of a life motivated by trust, saying, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
To drop everything and submit to God every step of the way, you first have to be completely confident in who he is. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all about you. He’s ready to walk with you through his plan because he loves you unconditionally. You can expect him to get you to your best possible tomorrow, but you can’t expect him to lay it all out for you. Remember, it’s not a three-minute movie trailer that spoils your entire story. You have to trust that he will get you there one day at a time.
