It’s all about DEPENDENCE!

Can You Say It? 

Pray: Fill me with your Holy Spirit.

Memory Verse: Say Ephesians 5:18b three times.

Can You See It? 

Today's story is, The Comforter, found in John 14:15-31. 

I want you to close your eyes and imagine a friend that you really love. Do you see their face? Now imagine your friend saying, “I’m leaving tomorrow and going away to a far, far-off place where you can’t come. But don’t worry, I’m going to leave my spirit here to be with you.” 

Now of course this would never happen outside of God, but this is what happened right before Jesus died on the cross and rose to the right hand of His Father in heaven. He did not leave us alone. Jesus said in John 14:16-17, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth.” Jesus sent his spirit to help the church begin their mission. 

It wasn’t long after that on a very special day, called Pentecost, a strong wind blew, and he filled everyone with his Holy Spirit. His Spirit would be with them always as their Comforter, Teacher and Guide. And his Spirit is living inside all of us who know him as Savior and Lord.

Can You Do It? 

Ask your heavenly Father each day to fill you with his Spirit.

Become dependent on God’s spirit to guide, comfort and teach you. The more you rely on his Spirit, the more like Jesus you will become.

Pray that the fruit of the Spirit be reflected in you, which will bless and encourage those around you. You can find a list of the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-26.

Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and making me one of your children. Help me love and obey you. Help me love others the way you love me. I am sorry for my sins. Wash me clean. I will praise you with all my heart! Jesus, I want to follow you as my Lord. Change me any way you want. Fill me with your Holy Spirit.
