Happy You, Happy Life!Sample
DAY #8
CHANGING YOUR THOUGHTS
Changing your thoughts and controlling your emotions are not easy, but both are possible! John 8:32 (NIV) says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” You can choose to put your trust in what God says about your situation instead of in your emotions.
When I was pregnant with our third child, I started showing signs of a miscarriage. It was tempting to let my thoughts and emotions run wild. I knew that if that baby was going to live, I needed to get my emotions under control. Fortunately, sometime before I had written Scriptures on index cards and put them all over our house. I had even stuck some on the ceiling over our bed, so as I was going to bed at night, I would see the right picture. Although I battled thoughts when my circumstances spoke contrary to the promises of God, I already had the upper hand by knowing God’s truth. The preparation made me battle ready, and by staying on the truth, I won. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy a few months later!
If we will stay in God’s Word, we are able to fight successfully. Don’t wait until the evil day to prepare; instead, meditate on God’s Word day and night. If an attack comes, God’s Word stored up inside of you will quench it!
“My Word gives you victory every time! It puts out the enemies’ fire before it can take root in your heart and produce a firestorm. How much easier it is to quench or drown out a small fire. Just because a fiery dart is shot at your heart does not mean that you are destined to fail. On the contrary! I have already armed you with the water of my Word to extinguish your attackers’ fire. The shield of faith goes up and the arrow is deflected. Put on my armor, my truth, my Word, and build your faith in what I say, and you will not be lacking in the day of battle.”
