147
1Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. # Ps 33:1; 135:3
2The Lord builds up Jerusalem; # Ps 51:18
He gathers together the outcasts of Israel. # Dt 30:3
3He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds. # Job 5:18; Isa 61:1
4He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by their names. # Ge 15:5; Isa 40:26
5Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; # Ps 48:1
His understanding is infinite. # Ps 145:3; Isa 40:28
6The Lord lifts up the humble;
He casts the wicked down to the ground. # Ps 146:8–9
7Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; # Ps 95:1–2
sing praises on the harp to our God,
8who covers the heavens with clouds,
who prepares rain for the earth, # Job 5:10
who makes grass to grow on the mountains. # Ps 104:13–14
9He gives to the beast its food # Ps 104:27–28
and to the young ravens that cry. # Job 38:41
10He does not delight in the strength of the horse; # 1Sa 16:7
He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
11The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, # Ps 33:18; 149:4
in those who hope in His mercy.
12Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
13For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;
He has blessed your children within you.
14He makes peace in your borders, # Isa 60:17–18
and fills you with the finest wheat. # Dt 32:14
15He sends forth His commandment to the earth; # Job 37:12
His word runs very swiftly.
16He gives snow like wool; # Job 37:6
He scatters the frost like ashes; # Job 38:29
17He casts forth His ice like morsels;
who can stand before His cold?
18He sends out His word and melts them; # Ps 33:9; 147:15
He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19He declares His word to Jacob, # Dt 33:2–4
His statutes and His judgments to Israel. # Ps 78:5; Mal 4:4
20He has not dealt so with any nation; # Dt 4:32–34; Ro 3:1–2
and as for His judgments, they have not known them.
Praise the Lord!
