A Minute For MommyΔείγμα
Do I Really Have to Leave the Hospital?
Being a new mom is one of the most exciting, rewarding, and challenging experiences of a woman's life. The first time you hold that precious baby in your arms, you are filled with a love only a mother can understand. The sound of their first cry, the feel of their new baby skin, the amazement over how tiny their little fingers and toes are is indescribable. On the day your little boy or little girl is born, you know without a doubt miracles really do happen. Praise the Lord!
No matter how wonderful the first couple of days can be, if you are like most moms - or at least if you are like me - the joy can turn to fear when it's time to leave the hospital or say goodbye to your extended family as they head back to their own home. It is now time for you, with the help of your husband, to take care of this little bundle of joy all by yourself. Yikes!
Let me encourage you. If you feel scared or uncertain about your new responsibility, you are perfectly normal, and you can do this. You really can. During those first few days and weeks as you experience mixed emotions of fear and joy; remember, God entrusted women with the important task of childbearing and motherhood. He entrusted you. What an awesome feeling. God chose you, only you, to bear and raise your little angel. What an honor and blessing you have been bestowed.
Spend time with the Lord today. Praise him for the gift of motherhood. Praise him for your children. Take any fears or doubts about your mothering abilities directly to God. Ask him to give you courage and confidence. God has faith in you. Believe in yourself. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. God is always with you.
