Expecting the One With Many NamesΔείγμα
BEAUTIFUL ARE THE MANY NAMES OF JESUS!
When we walk in sin, we are in darkness, but when we follow the ‘Light of the World,’ Jesus, we become His Light so that others might see Him through us!
“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world.’ Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12
Why would Jesus be given the name of a Lion? Because a lion does not retreat. The Lion is considered the King of all animals. Jesus, as ‘Lion of the Tribe of Judah’, is King over all humankind, and He went through the battle of all battles to defeat the enemy, Satan. He is victorious and so deserving of this name!
“Then one of the elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] said to me, Stop weeping! See, the ‘Lion of the tribe of Judah,’ the Root (Source) of David, has won (has overcome and conquered)!” Revelation 5:5
His name, 'Lord of Lords,' is given because He is Lord over all! He is supreme and will be revered, honored, praised, and glorified!
“Which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and 'Lord of lords.” I Timothy 6:15
‘Master’ in scripture is also another name for Teacher and Rabbi. Interestingly, the Hebrew name Adonai has been translated as Master and Lord.
“Ye call me ‘Master’ and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.” John 13:13
LET US PAUSE:
Since we are walking in the Light of the World today, let’s allow others to see our Light. Do something kind for someone. Let that person go ahead of you in the grocery line, pay for a coffee for someone in the drive-through, or open the door and be cheerful for someone. You get the idea!
