Walking With Jesus - HopeΔείγμα
SEEKING THE LORD
During the reign of King Jehoshaphat, several nations joined forces against Judah. Jehoshaphat's response can be a lesson for us in times of crisis.
It is very natural and human to have fear when we face a severe crisis. Jehoshaphat experienced the same thing. Fear was a reasonable reaction given what would befall the nation. However, what Jehosphat did in such a condition was extraordinary. The Bible says that the king "decided to seek the LORD." Our best response when we experience difficulty is to cry out and to look for our Father in heaven. As His children, we can always trust that God loves us and cares for our lives.
God has established a new covenant on the cross for people who believe in Lord Jesus (Luke 22:20) —He forgives us, He adopts us into His family, and He cares for us. The salvation is given to us not because of what we do, but because of Christ's perfect work in our place (Ephesians. 2: 8). God sends the Holy Spirit to help us, and even live with us forever. He cares about every aspect of our lives and longs to hear our greetings to Him.
Jehoshaphat was able to deal with the crisis because he had developed a habit of seeking the Lord in all situations. If we want to stay prepared in unexpected circumstances, then we must build spiritual discipline every day and acknowledge dependence on God. With that, we will know His will for our lives.
By always testing our hearts every day, we can immediately know if our attention is focused on God or other matters.
Reflection:
1. Do we want to seek God in all situations? Or do we just feel the need to look for Him when we face a critical situation?
2. What responses do we usually show when we face pressure or difficulties? Then what should we do?
Application: Let us get used to seeking the Lord so that we will be able to face any challenges.
