Not Easy, But Worth It!

The Israelites were terrified.

The Lord had just led His people out of Egypt with a mighty hand. After four hundred years of slavery, the Israelites had come out of Egypt with all their belongings and much more. What an amazing victory.

However, even before they could begin to internalize this amazing fact, the Israelites are faced with their next challenge. And they are petrified. There before them lay the Red Sea and in hot pursuit behind were Pharaoh and his mighty army. They were trapped, hemmed in from all sides. They were scared and exhausted.  And so they panicked and they forgot.

They forgot all the great and mighty wonders that the Lord had just done before their very eyes just the past week. They panicked when they saw the mighty army of Pharaoh. And their panic caused them to blame. They blamed Moses, the very man who had led them out of their slavery. All of a sudden Egypt became desirable and Moses became the one who had deprived them of their lives of bliss. They were positive that they were going to die in the desert.

Some gratitude right? But Moses! Oh, what a man! He stayed focused. He calmly reminded the people: the Lord is still on the throne. Just hang in there. All you need to do is be still. He will do the rest. God’s got this.

However, to be still is a tough task. When challenges and crisis come, we get so worked up that more often than not, we feel we just have to do something—anything. It is so difficult to be still. When we do something about the situation, somehow it gives us relief. It even makes us feel more in control. Sometimes doing something simply keeps our minds occupied rather than allowing for time to think. We even feel more useful when we are doing something about it.

Yet to be still and let God take control is truly the best thing we can do. To be still, we need to acknowledge that we need Him. We also need to trust Him. It means that we accept that He knows better. To be still and let God have control is to have the courage to let go of control.

Are you facing a situation that scares the daylights out of you today? Do situations and maybe even people around you overwhelm you? Would you trust God enough to let it all go into His precious hands, trusting that He knows best? That He will fight for you? Would you be willing to be still in His Presence?

Master help me trust You and let go my toughest situation into Your hands today.

Not Easy, But Worth It

Faith is something we all desire to have but struggle to display through the everyday life. It is easy to have faith when life is all good. But when faced with challenges, and no answers seem to come for the things you have prayed and prayed for, or, when answers come in unexpected packages, it is not easy to trust, and faith can falter.
