Does God want you to have success?

Success is an elusive objective for many people I’ve met. It’s much like the proverbial carrot placed just out of reach of a horse or donkey. I’ve known so many people who were chasing after success and yet seemed miserable and unfulfilled. My dad would often quote, “‘For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?’” (Mark 8:36, NKJV) Yikes! He only knew one verse but held onto that one like an anchor for his soul. He was a war hero who survived and then succeeded tremendously in the corporate world. He knew a lot about success and its treacherous landmines.

Do you want to be a success? What does success look like to you? Please don’t get me wrong. I believe God wants us to experience tremendous success. The Bible says those who crossed over the Jordan River would possess the Promised Land: “‘I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.’” (Joshua 1:3, NIV)

In fact, God has a life plan for each one of us that will make us successful, happy, and fruitful. Success has its hidden trap doors, but God has the perfect prevention plan: humility, generosity, and unselfishness. He wanted to give the Promised Land to the Israelites, but it took 40 years of wandering to finally cross over. God always keeps His promises, even if it takes 40, 100, or a thousand years.

Can you give yourself permission to cross over into a successful career, ministry, and life? You can’t enter if you don’t believe that God wants to give it to you. Don’t forget: “...without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6, NIV)

It’s time to believe in His promises and His love because you are a miracle.
