Getting God’s Perspective On Your LifeBeispiel
Meditating on the Truth
Do you trust God to direct your paths? Do you meditate day and night on His Word?
As the light of God’s Word goes into your mind, it pushes the darkness out. Then the freedom of Christ begins to connect to your heart in a deeper way. The key is to immerse ourselves in the Word. It says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Rom. 10:17).
We need to hear God’s Word over and over again to remind ourselves who we are in Christ. We need to speak it to ourselves with our mouths so our own ears hear our voice saying the truth. We need to stir ourselves up to remember.
You probably wouldn’t even think about missing a meal, and yet God’s Word is much more essential to our lives than food. Jesus quoted the Word when He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4).
We should put as much dedication into eating the bread of life as we do physical food. Living in freedom and getting God’s perspective means hiding God’s Word in your heart with regular, passionate meditation and memorization.
The Word of God is our powerful weapon to defeat the enemy. When Jesus was tempted after fasting forty days, even He, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God, answered with, “It is written” (Matt. 4:4). If Jesus had to do that, how much more do we need to do it? Make “It is written” a regular part of your internal conversation and thought life.
It works against all kinds of temptation and lies. Proverbs 3:5–6, a well-known verse, tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” When we don’t renew our minds, we naturally lean on our own understanding because that’s all there is for us. But if you renew your mind to God’s Word and His way, you will walk in more and more freedom day by day, moment by moment.
Ask yourself: Am I currently immersing myself in scripture through study, meditation, and memorization? What could I do to make space in my life for more of God’s Word?
