Restored!Beispiel
The New You
A major restoration breakthrough takes place in our lives when be begin taking God at His word. It’s the truth of God’s promises that breaks the power of the lies we have come to believe. According to God’s promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17, those who have put their faith in Christ are a new creation. The old self has been done away with, stripped of it’s power over us, and redeemed through the death and resurrection of Christ. We hold this to be the truth about us.
Now, granted, there are days when we don’t feel like we’ve been made new. Perhaps we don’t even behave like we’ve been made new, but the promise of God is that we have, indeed, been made new.
In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul makes a list of several sinful practices, and in verse 11 he writes, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
Notice the three things that Paul says that God had done for those who had put their faith in Christ. He says that they had been washed (made clean), sanctified (made holy), and justified (declared innocent). Wow!
Today, take God at His word. God never lies and He’s never wrong. Trust that what He says about you is true. In the back of this devotional you will find a listing of declarations from God’s word about who you are in Christ. I encourage you to keep this list, read it regularly, and make these declarations your declarations.
PRAYER
Lord, I thank you that you are always good, always truthful, always faithful. Today, I choose you. I choose to take you at your word. I believe that I am who you say I am, I can do what you say I can do, and I have what you say I have. Thank you that I am a new creation in Christ, that my past is in the past, and that everything about me has been made new!
